Rather than including recognizable objects in his work, Charles uses the elements of painting itself � color, line, shape, brush strokes, texture, and light. And his use of mixed media Charles could be said to be working under the umbrella of abstract expressionism. Although not wanting to give his works such a specific label, his paintings bare a great similarity with the aims and style of such work.
