International Artist Rimi Yang
UNITED STATES, 326 North Coast Hwy. Laguna Beach, Ca 92651
From Jun-03-2010 to Jul-31-2010
International artist Rimi Yang portrays the Yin and Yang of life and its uncertainties. Her emotional work explores the human psyche and its relation in connecting to polar opposites. Yang’s paintings are both dramatic yet whimsical showing both Eastern and Western influences. Stylistically, she illustrates an attraction as well as repulsion to abstract expression. Her use of thick painted surfaces applied with gestural brushstroke point to the characteristics of abstraction; the attraction. These stylistic elements are reminiscent of artists such as Diego Velasquez and Edouard Manet. Yang’s portraiture is similar to that of Velasquez as both contain heavy use of paint and texture. The same painterly quality is also seen between Manet and Yang.

While in school, he exhibited his work at Parisian galleries and was placed on the map when Gallimard Publishing Group used his work on its book covers. Boris Lurie : NO!
UNITED STATES, 556 West 22nd Street
New York, NY
10011
From Mar-26-2010 to May-15-2010
The first exhibition in New York of art from the Boris Lurie estate will take place at the Chelsea Art Museum, from 26 March 2011 until 15 May 2011. The show will inaugurate a series of exhibitions devoted to the NO!art Movement and its members and affiliates, as well as other long-neglected or suppressed humanist strains in the art of the latter half of the Twentieth Century. The vitriol and fury of Lurie and his cohorts still runs in the veins of their art fifty and more years after it was created; it is as fresh, powerful, and, remarkably, beautiful, as it was in the cultural near-vacuum in which it was created. Lurie is one of the legendary figures of the East Village avant-garde of the fifties and sixties, a resistor against the institutional structure of art in his day and what he called the “ investment art market” and one of the powerful voices for humanity in an art world officially devoid of political or social awareness.

An exhibition of anamorphic art and its interpretation in life
Anamorphosis is best defined as the art of deceiving eyes. In my sort, I make portraits/face as circular abstracts on the plane of Canvas which when looked through a cylindrical mirror from a certain angle reveals the actual form. This form of art has huge recognition in the other parts of world since European renaissance, but is least heard in India. This is my first ever exhibition of this unconventional form of art in Kolkata.
You are cordially invited.

Collaborations: Summer Collection 2009
UNITED STATES, 326 North Coast Hwy. Laguna Beach. Ca 92651
From Jul-11-2009 to Jul-30-2009
FEATURING ARTISTS PATTI DIDIOMETE, SANDY CLARK, LAURA ROSS-PAUL, BILL AGEE AND JAMES VERBICKY
Canadian artist Patti Didiomete brings a mix of vibrant color combined with emphasis on form, resulting in work that is reminiscent of Cubism meets Fauvism. She combines geometric shapes with fluid, flowing lines forming playful scenes many of which display French Café-like settings of dancing, kissing, and drinking cocktails with friends. Her style is a mix between Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. She paints geometric linear compositions such as Picasso did in his Cubist works. However, Patti also portrays similar qualities to French Artist Henri Matisse as seen through their use of both expressive and colorful language. They also share the common treatment of fluid lines representing graceful movement found on the canvas. Patti’s figurative paintings represent a love of life and the expression of a moment in time.

AMERICA: New works from artist America Martin also featuring bronze sculptures from Louis Longi
UNITED STATES, 326 North Coast Hwy. Laguna Beach ca 92651
From Jan-25-2009 to Mar-15-2010
Columbian-American artist America Martin produces fine art revealing wisdom of Modern ideologies and artistic movements. Based in Los Angeles, Ca America’s art reflects influences of Cubism, Fauvism and Minimalism. With these combining forces she creates fresh, colorful palettes radiating with soft, subdued colors. Her use of thick, continuous lines with flat, two-dimensional forms in single picture planes are reminiscent of Picasso’s early cubist works, dating 1906-1909, shaping canvases with a soft Cubist manner. America’s arrangement of geometric shapes and figures mirrors the conceptual desires of the Minimalist movement, as seen in artists such as Frank Stella, including cubic forms lacking repetition and equality.
