The usage of materials for me is a very conscious process of shift from the two-dimensional painting medium to the three-dimensional quality of an assemblage. Even with the works on canvas, I have experimented by introducing non-painting mediums. The initial works that I began with are about the vanishing folk games, that I tried exposing into the mainstream arts. more..In the process resulted with works that I made by cutting the canvas off from the board in geometric forms, which are also related to the indoor game arena and created artwork below the canvas surface. In the process I am trying to pose a question if this artwork was a two dimensional or a three dimensional. The series of photographs of the self and homage to the self is a way of my questioning about the self-identity. The materials that are a part of my works are usually connected with the womanhood turmeric, cotton thread, plantation pillars and pins. My interest to work with the pins arose as it was a unique material and speaks of a specific gender with its connection and also the process of the bondage that it holds and connects.
