The only rule perhaphs, though not laid down in the book, is that it should be beautiful. Ponmani seems to have adopted this rule particularly with all its importance,in her landscapes. The elements she takes from nature for her art undergo highly subjective synthesis on her canvas to give out those unknown vistas of visual prceptions, varying ofcourse from
the real, but having their moorings always on the real. Ponmani's works are strikingly original and bearing the stamp of a matured but ever evolving colourist.
